Dynamic Geolocation Field Options

Introduction

Dynamic Geolocation Field Options copy one value from a Ninja Geolocation source into an ordinary Ninja Forms field. The target updates whenever the connected source produces a new value.

The available source types depend on the installed package and the source fields present in the form. Location values are available in Starter, Pro, and Agency; Pro adds Directions, Distance & Duration, and Address Validation; Agency also adds Drawing Tools, Drawing Shape, and Nearest Locations.

The API requirements come from the selected source workflow. For example, routed travel values require Routes API, while copying an existing Geocoder value introduces no additional API request of its own.

Supported Target Fields

Dynamic Geolocation Field Options are available on these ordinary Ninja Forms field types:

• Address.
• City.
• ZIP.
• Single Line Text.
• Number.
• Multi-Select.
• State.
• Country.
• Checkboxes.
• Hidden.
• Dropdown/List Select.
• Radio List.

An ordinary Ninja Forms Address field can receive a copied text value, but it does not become a Ninja Geolocation input or source. Use the Address Field from the Geolocation field group when visitors must enter or resolve a location through Ninja Geolocation.

Configuring Dynamic Geolocation Values

Open a supported target field and configure these settings in its Geolocation section:

1. Dynamic Field Usage: Select the source family.
2. Source Field: Select the specific Geocoder, Directions, Distance & Duration, Address Validation, Drawing Tools, Drawing Shape, or Nearest Locations Field.
3. Value to Display: Select the property to copy. Nearest Locations uses a property-name text box so it can accept built-in or custom destination properties.

The source selector shows only compatible fields already present in the form. Add and configure the source field first when the list is empty.

Setting Up and Using Dynamic Geolocation Values

1. Add and configure the Ninja Geolocation source field.
2. Add a supported ordinary Ninja Forms field to receive one output.
3. Open the target field's Geolocation settings.
4. Select the Dynamic Field Usage, Source Field, and Value to Display.
5. Repeat with another target field for every additional output.
6. Save the form and trigger the source workflow on the frontend.
7. Confirm that the target updates when the source changes and that the expected target value is saved with the submission.

A dynamic target displays one selected property. Use several target fields when the form needs separate values such as formatted address, latitude, longitude, distance, and duration.

Source Fields and Outputs

Location (Geocoder)

A Geocoder Field can supply:

• Street number, street name, number-first street, or name-first street.
• Premise, subpremise, neighborhood, city, and county.
• Region name, region code, postcode, postcode suffix, and full postcode.
• Country name and country code.
• Place name and place ID.
• Entered address and formatted address.
• Latitude and longitude.
• Comma-separated or serialized coordinates.
• Serialized address plus coordinates.
• The complete serialized location.

Directions and Distance & Duration

A Directions Field or Distance & Duration Field can supply:

• Distance text, such as 27.9 mi.
• Numeric distance in the source field's selected measurement system.
• Distance in meters.
• Duration text.
• Duration in seconds.

For Straight-Line (Haversine) results, duration is an approximation based on average speed for the selected travel mode, not a Google road-route estimate.

Address Validation

An Address Validation Field can supply status, outcome, delivery status, selected address, suggested address, selected type, region code, or the related Geocoder reference.

Drawing Tools and Drawing Shape

A Drawing Tools Field can supply total area, total line length, total perimeter, southwest and northeast bound coordinates, shape count, comma-separated shape types, a shape-label summary, or the complete serialized shapes collection.

A Drawing Shape Field can supply area, perimeter, line length, circle radius, center coordinates, serialized center, southwest and northeast bounds and their individual coordinates, serialized bounds, label, fill color, shape mode, or geometry type.

Nearest Locations

A Nearest Locations Field can supply a built-in result property such as title, address, distance, or duration, or any custom property included in the configured destination data. Enter the exact property key in Value to Display.

Using Numeric Values in Calculations

In Ninja Geolocation 3.5, Ninja Forms calculations do not read the structured Directions or Distance & Duration value directly. Use a Number field as a numeric bridge:

1. Add a Number field. Hide it when visitors do not need to see the intermediate value.
2. Set Dynamic Field Usage to Directions Field or Distance & Duration Field.
3. Select the source field.
4. Choose Numeric Distance, Distance in Meters, or Duration in Seconds.
5. Use that Number field in the Ninja Forms calculation.

Choose the output unit deliberately. Numeric Distance follows the source field's Imperial or Metric setting; Distance in Meters is always meters.

Saved Value and Behavior

The target remains an ordinary Ninja Forms field and saves the copied value according to that field type. The source field separately saves its normal structured value.

When the source recalculates, validates, changes selection, or updates its geometry, connected dynamic targets are updated with the currently selected property. If the source has not produced that property, the target cannot populate it.
